Dr. Laurent ETIENNE

Period: 2012-2013

Dr. Laurent ETIENNE had a postdoc at Dalhousie University in the department ing Industrial neering during 2012-2013.

He worked in collaboration with Professor Ronald Pelot in the research group MARIN . He also teached two courses for engineering students (Algorithms, Geographic Information Systems)

Laurent ETIENNE worked as a Teaching Assistant and Research at the Naval Academy from 2008 to 2012. He obtained his PhD in geomatics. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science specializing in digital imaging and artificial intelligence from the University of Rennes 1.

After creating his company, he worked as a research engineer in the group Geographic Information System of the Research Institute of the Naval Academy on the project LOCOSS in collaboration with the AML of Saint-Brieuc, ENST Bretagne, the Departmental Services Fire and Rescue (SDIS 22 and SDIS 29).

He defended his PhD in geomatics within the GIS team IRENAV under the direction of  Thomas DEVOGELE University of Tours and Alain BOUJU University of La Rochelle.

The subject of this thesis is:” spatio-temporal patterns of trajectories of moving objects, extraction to detect unusual behavior.
Application to maritime traffic.
 ”.

In the field of education in the Naval Academy, Laurent ETIENNE assured the Assistant function teaching and research in computer science. IT areas he teaches are mainly computer architecture, operating systems, algorithms and programming, computer graphics and virtual reality, human-computer interaction, geographic information systems.
